When reviewing Salespath reporting, you may see transactions labeled as Tight Match, Loose Match, Missed, or Unattended. This article explains what each status means, why Loose Matches happen, and how to coach your team to ensure proper attribution.
Presentation Match Types Explained
When reviewing your Daily Transactions, you will see a Status associated with each one.
Let's define each of those statuses:
Tight Match
A Tight Match means everything aligned correctly:
An attributed salesperson
Matching audio recording
Matching Salespath presentation session
This is the ideal workflow outcome and confirms the presentation and transaction were completed in the correct order.
Loose Match
A Loose Match means:
An attributed salesperson
No matching audio
Matching Salespath session
Loose matches typically indicate the presentation workflow timing was not followed correctly, even though the session and salesperson were recorded.
Missed
A Missed transaction means:
An attributed salesperson
No matching audio
No matching session
This usually indicates the Salespath presentation process was not completed properly.
Unattended
An Unattended transaction means:
No salesperson
No audio
No session
This occurs when no Salespath presentation was started.

Why Do Loose Matches Happen?
Loose matches are most commonly caused by workflow timing issues.
If the presentation is not stopped at the correct time - specifically before completing the transaction on the POS/kiosk - the audio will not link properly to the transaction.
A common mistake is:
Starting the presentation correctly
Completing the transaction
Forgetting to end the presentation before moving to the POS device
When this happens, the system cannot tightly match the audio to the transaction.

What should I do if I'm seeing frequent Loose Matches?
If you are seeing frequent Loose Matches, we recommend retraining your team on the proper Salespath workflow.
Correct Presentation Workflow
Start the presentation as the customer rolls up.
Navigate through the menu and package slide during the pitch.
End the presentation immediately after the customer makes a decision.
Complete the transaction on the POS/kiosk device only after the presentation has ended.
Coaching Recommendations for Frequent Loose Matches
If certain team members consistently generate Loose Matches:
Conduct live role-play of the correct workflow.
Observe presentations and verify timing.
Reinforce that the presentation must end before any transaction begins.
Review Session Quality reporting for additional coaching opportunities.
This resource explains how to identify low-quality presentations and use quality signals as early indicators of coaching opportunities. If your Site Manager dashboard is showing a "Session Quality Needs Attention" alert, that's a signal that more than 25% of today's sessions are flagged as low quality.
Tracking Loose Matches Across Your Team
In addition to reviewing individual transaction statuses in the Daily Transactions report, Tenant Admins and Site Managers can now track Loose Match % as an aggregate metric across several reports. This gives you a quick, at-a-glance view of how often presentations at a given location or for a given salesperson are resulting in Loose Matches — without having to review transactions one by one.
Loose Match % is available in the following reports:
- Salesperson Leaderboard — shown per salesperson and in the grouped summary header
- Location Leaderboard — shown per location
- AI Scorecard — shown at both the location and salesperson level
- Sale Presentations — shown in the grouped summary header per salesperson or location, depending on your Group By selection
A higher Loose Match % for a salesperson or location is a signal to review their workflow and consider retraining on the correct presentation timing outlined above.
